If you are one of those people who want to create your own recording but spending on recording time is way out of your budget, consider the following home recording tips for a more professional sounding track.
Use a drum beat – A solo artist would really benefit if he uses this feature. Drum beats will help the artist stay in tune to the beat. Look into buying a multi-track portable recorder or computer recording software with this feature.
Include a guitar track – Once you have got your guitar track down, it would be much easier for you to follow the recording.
Record volume – Adjust your record volume to avoid record distortion and create a smoother sounding track.
Harmonizing – Sing at a higher or lower octave than the notes you play to add texture to your track.
Adjusting speaker volume – This technique is called panning and involves splitting your tracks on the left or right speakers. You could also use this feature if there was a slight mistake on one guitar by covering it with a guitar track on the other speaker.
Mark function – This function helps you get to the section of the track that you might need to re-record. These are generally the chorus sections of the track. This would save you time because you do not have to forward and rewind to find that particular section.
Undo function – This is a much-needed function because it will help you save space and stop you from recording over your bad takes.
