Lady Gaga: Rolling Stone’s Queen of Pop

Rolling Stone, the number 1 music magazine in the US and the world has named the music industry’s Queen of Pop. Based on album sales, digital tracks, YouTube views of music videos, airplay, billboard top 100, social networking fame, tours, awards and album reviews, Rolling Stone has finally found the Queen of Pop. It is no other than Lady Gaga.

 

Lady Gaga beat Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Pink among the pos stars that were included in the list. Lady Gaga is born on March 26, 1986. Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. She is inspired by glam rock artists like David Bowie, Queen and Elton John. Her stage name, Lady Gaga was inspired by a 1984 Queen song entitled, Radio Gaga.

 

In 2009, she won the awards for Top New Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Pop Songs Artist and Top Canadian Hot 100 in the Billboard Music Awards. In the same year, her album, The Fame won Top Electronic/Dance Album and Top European 100 Albums and her single Poker Face won as the Top European Hot 100 Songs in the Billboard Music Awards. Then in 2010, she received the awards Top Electronic/Dance Album and Top European 100 Albums for her album, The Fame o the Billboard Music Awards. In 2010 she received her first award from the American Music Awards as the Favorite Po/Rock Female Artist of the year. Her songs, Just Dance and Paparazzi won the 2010 ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Award for the Most Performed Songs. In 2011, her single Telephone also won the ASCAP award for the Most Performed Song. Video Phone, the single she did with fellow pop star, Beyonce, won the 2010 BET Award for Video of the Year.  This year, 2011, her album, The Fame has won the Award for Top Electronic/Dance Album and she won the Billboard Music Awards for Top Artist and Top Dance Artist.

 

Lady Gaga may be known for her eccentric taste in clothes, but she sure can sing and she delivers music that people find relatable and fun.
