The music industry has undergone quite a few changes over the last few years. People are not buying compact discs and even when they download music many times they are not paying for individual songs either. Concert ticket sales have gone down as well, many times this has to do with high prices for concert tickets and the fees associated with them. What has the music industry done to combat high ticket prices and pirating of music? They have begun demanding that ticket brokers like “Ticketmaster” explain exactly what their fees are; they have also fought to have ticket brokers lower their fees in order to entice fans to pay for concert tickets. Music artists have also begun fighting against piracy by working with federal agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation to “crack down” on companies that use file sharing in order to distribute music to individuals.
The music industry hasn’t change only in the consumer world though; the way music is made has changed as well. Artists are no longer using large studios to record their music. Part of this is due to the fact that large recording studios often cost artists a lot of money to rent or use. Artist often use their own recording studios, this way they do not have to pay out as much in order to have their music produced and recorded. The method of recording music has changed as well. Digital recording makes mixing tracks and tunes easier than it has ever been.
No matter what changes are made, the music industry will continue to be a form of entertainment for everyone.
