People begin a journey with meditation for many different reasons and famous singers are no different. These female icons in the pop industry had unique paths to travel to find the peace and tranquillity that meditation has given them.
Tina Turner
Tina Turner started to sing mantras and prayers in the 60s to deal with loneliness and after leaving her abusive husband in 1976 she turned to Buddhism and meditation. She has practiced meditation for over 40 years, and she puts her success down to her daily meditations. Tina says “For me, Buddhism is less a religion and more scientific life-support or philosophy. I felt that where body and subconscious were joined, both are strengthened at the same time. My success is my proof.”
Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow with 9 Grammys under her belt and having sold 50 million albums worldwide Sheryl Crow is a singer-songwriter that enjoys meditation twice a day 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. She has been meditating since 1994 and says “I started meditating because I felt like I needed to stop my life from running me. So, meditation for me helped slow my day down.”
Beyoncé Knowles
Beyoncé Knowles is a global superstar who needs to take care of herself whilst traveling and keeping a very busy schedule. She does this with meditation which relaxes and brings calm to her day. She finds the breathing techniques with meditation very helpful and says “I don’t just put any prescription in my body. My diet is important, and I use tools like acupuncture, meditation, visualization, and breathing exercises.”
